Applied Skills
The second of the fundamental modules this follows the Applied Knowledge.
It has six mandatory units all of which are examined individually. Once this module has been competed you will have the equivalent of a Batchelor’s degree.
The entry requirements for the level:
• Completion of the Applied knowledge level
• Completion of the AAT Professional (Level 4)
Subjects can be completed in ant order, but you should sit AA with or after FR. You can sit up to r=four subjects in one exam sitting and a maximum of eight per year. You can overlap with applied knowledge as long as this level is being completed.
Taxation (TX)
This unit covers the skills and knowledge that relate to the tax systems for individuals, and companies to include single companies and groups of companies.
• Understand the tax system, the obligations for taxpayers and the implications of non-compliance
• Explain and calculate tax liability for individuals, companies and groups of companies
This unit is assessed by a three hour session based computer exam in March, June, September and December
Performance Management (PM)
This unit gives you the knowledge to apply management techniques to qualitative and qualitative information that may be used in planning, decision and for performance evaluation and control.
• Develop knowledge and skills in the application of management accounting techniques
• Quantitative and qualitive information for planning, decision making, performance evaluation and control
This unit is assessed by a three hour session based computer exam in March, June, September and December
Audit and Assurance (AA)
This unit covers the process and implementation of an assurance engagement and its application in the context of the professional framework.
• Knowledge and understanding of the process involved in carrying out the assurance engagement
• Application in the context of the professional regulatory requirement

Corporate Business Law (ENG) (LW)
This unit covers the legal framework and legal area that are specific to business including basic contract law.
• Understanding of the general legal framework
• How this legal framework applies to the regulation and operation of business entities and finance
• Understand corporate fraudulent and criminal behaviour

Financial Reporting (FR)
This unit teaches the skills needed to apply the accounting standards and the framework used in the preparation of financial statements going on to look at how to analyse and interpret the statements.
• Understand and apply accounting standards and the theoretical framework
• Prepare financial statements of entities, including groups
• Analyse and interpret financial statements
